Ping Test and save to text file


Open My Documents

  • Select Create folder.
  • Name the folder as ping.
  • Select the folder, and hold down the shift key and right click.
  • From right click menu choose Open command window from here.
  • Enter ping –t ‘ip_address’ > ping.txt.

This will create a text file called ping.txt in the Created Folder and output the ping output to the file.

A 24 hour Ping Test will create a file of around 4MB in size.

To output to Root of C Drive

ping -t 192.168.1.1 > C:\ping.txt

To Create a Continuous ping with a Time Stamp we can use PowerShell

Create a Folder on your C: Drive called “ping”

Open PowerShell

ping -t 192.168.1.1 | Foreach{"{0} - {1}" -f (Get-Date),$_} > c:\ping\test.txt
